The SLSS will continue to support the ongoing professional development of teachers of Transition Year through the provision
of courses at local, regional and national level, organised in association with Education Centres.

Local Transition Year Networks
The SLSS also promotes the development of local support networks of teachers in association with Education Centres. Information on local courses will be circulated regularly to schools by local education centres. These networks will be locally
convened and delivered to meet the needs as identified by teachers and schools.

School based support
Whole School Staffs, Teachers of Transition Year, Principals, Deputy Principals and Transition Year Co-ordinators and Core-team members as well as individual teachers or groups of teachers can avail of support by telephone, fax or email or by a visit to the school. School visits will be undertaken in response to requests where resources permit - priority will be given to schools commencing Transition Year in 2007, schools planning for its introduction in the foreseeable future, schools with a new Transition Year Co-ordinator or School Principal and to schools experiencing difficulty in the implementation of the programme. Support and assistance in the evaluation of the programme may also be undertaken.

The recently updated Transition Year website can be accessed by logging onto the Second Level Support Service Website www.slss.ie and click on TY. A bulletin board would welcome ideas for teachers and the teaching of TY, topics for discussion, sharing of useful resources as well as publicising local and regional initiatives. A useful links section will also welcome additions.

Newsletter
The Transition Year Newsletter is an additional support for teachers, students, parents and schools. As well as providing information and contact details on new resources, modules and initiatives it is also a forum for the sharing of good practice in schools. Please forward articles, photographs and contact details to the TY administrator for inclusion in future newsletters.
