A consultation service by fax, phone or email will be available. Further support will be offered through an issue of the “Physical Sciences” magazine, which will be circulated to all schools during the coming term and through the Physics pages of the SLSS website, www.slss.ie.

The physics support courses available from January - June include;

Modular Course SL0622 Induction for New Physics Teachers
This course commenced in the Autumn term. The final day of this course will focus on experiments and will be held in a school
laboratory before Easter. Participants will be been informed of the exact date and venue in good time.

Modular Course SL0623 Using ICT to enhance teaching and learning in Physics
This course commenced in the Autumn term. The final two days of this course will be held before Easter. Participants will receive
notification in good time.

Modular Course SL0705 Flash Animations in Classroom Physics
This course will commence in the Easter term. It is aimed at teachers of Physics who have completed the SLSS physics ICT modular
course or equivalent and who are interested in exploring the added value of using flash in the classroom.

Datalogging Induction Workshops
A series of one day hands-on workshops on how datalogging can enhance practical work in physics have been organised.
Three workshops took place in first term and further courses are planned, in the venues below, for the second term.

Network Evening Meetings
A number of physics networks were organised during first term. These meetings were organised in collaboration with the local Education Centre Directors and in cooperation with the Irish Science Teachers' Association (ISTA) and the Institute of Physics (IOP). In association with the SLSS Physics, the JSSS will run elective workshops on electricity at Centres around the country.

These workshops will include the IOP Supporting Physics Teaching (11-14) resource material. Further network meetings will be organised during second term to support local identified physics needs.
Notification of the dates will be sent to your school.
