The Junior Certificate School Programme is based on the concept that all young people are capable of real success in school and that they can have a positive experience of school if the conditions are favourable.

The programme is an intervention within the Junior Certificate aimed at students who may leave school early and offers an exciting multifaceted approach to the education of these often marginalised students.

A curriculum framework is provided through the Programme which assists schools and individual teachers in adopting a student-centred approach to the Junior Certificate.

The in-service programme aims to support all of the elements of this framework with a particular emphasis on the induction of new schools and teachers new to the Programme. Check out our subject based in-service along with courses that explore all kinds of existing approaches to teaching in the challenging JCSP classroom. A feature of many of the JCSP courses is an opportunity to hear other teachers describe what has worked for them. Additionally, co-ordinators are invited to a co-ordinators' meeting each term.

School-based in-service
The JCSP team is available to facilitate on going, school based, in-service for a group of teachers or whole staff. The following is an indication of the range of topics which might be engaged with:
