SL1004: Using Assessment to Support Teaching and Learning in your Classroom
- Target Group
- This course is an introduction to Assessment for Learning designed to assist teachers who are looking for ways in which their approach to assessment can have a positive impact on student motivation and attainment.
- Course Aims
- By the end of this modular course, teachers will be able to:
• Identify the range of assessment modes used to assess students’ achievement and progress
• Consider the extent to which assessment intentions are used sensitively and effectively to assist and support teaching and learning
• Plan for ways to share criteria for success in their subject with their students
• Explore how the use of questioning can generate discussion, promote and deepen understanding
• Examine ways in which self and peer assessment can develop improved learning skills
• Identify feedback techniques which are effective in helping students learn
The sessions will facilitate the sharing of ideas and resources. - Application Closing Date
